Maybe your master's degree isn't in homes, but mine was. In the mid 70's my home experience started as a helper in my teens for my father, an employee for a local plumber, and doing some renovation jobs on my own. In the early 80's I trained as a heavy equipment operator then operated a wide variety of machines for various contractors. In the late 80's my own business Small Stuff Maintenance Service started as a service contractor providing a crew for townhouse maintenance for three Property Management companies servicing over 300 rental units, a site management company was integrated into it, as well as doing small handyman repairs for private homeowners. A general contracting crew was added as Small Stuff Renovations shortly after, building additions, kitchens, bathrooms, basements, decks and fences. A bathtub re-glazing and countertop recoloring division was also added. Several years later, The Work Crew, a commercial building maintenance overload service crew was added with a staff who worked nights.
Since 2001, I have inspected over eighteen thousand homes in various Provinces for replacement cost evaluations, sometimes taking the time to explain to owners how their house "works" when they realized how much I knew about their house after being there for only a half hour.
This service was created after many people told me I should make a business of teaching people about their house because I taught them so much about theirs. My entire life has been spent around land and houses! 50 years of unmatched experience!
Buyers struggle with finding out about the house they bought. They don’t know they can meet the owner.
When this happens the buyer knows almost nothing and can make costly mistakes.
Then things go wrong because they did not know what they know they were supposed to.
I specialize in doing a walkthrough with the buyer and seller so buyers know about as much about the property and how it works as the seller does.
The reason why I recommend this home walkthrough, is because it is the single most effective way to solve the problem of how to learn about the property you bought before you move.
